Service Description
Come create with guest instructor Julie Lukosaitis. Julie will demonstrate how to make glass beads in the small flame of a torch. You will learn heat control and techniques of different styles, the basics of hot head torch set up and safety. Round beads will be made first. Next, you’ll pull glass stringers from the glass rod to use for decorative details such as dots, scrolls, and swirls on your own beads. Other shapes and techniques using additional glass inclusions and metals will be included as well as making copper head pins for bead assembly. A discussion of common problems associated with bead making will be covered early in the day. No experience necessary, all tools and supplies provided in class. ***Price includes $35 material fee*** A little about Julie Lukosaitis: Artwork in any medium is born from a spark of intention like a dance fully emerging from thought, passing through hands, and eyes. Torch fired glass has been with Julie for over 25 years. It has taught her focus, given her happiness and failures, challenges and successes. Meticulously constructed, she use the torch to melt the glass layer upon layer, reading the heat and applying ancient techniques and skills. I strive to capture beauty with-in my glass art. Glass art has unlocked a door for Julie. In 2014, Beadazzled By Julz, LLC was born out of the desire to teach the ancient art of glass bead making skills and art jewelry. She has since expanded to include glass blowing and enameling. What sets her apart as a creator and teacher is 29 years of experience working in public education. Julie is grateful for the opportunities to foster creativity, make friends, and share her skills.
